Katana scabbards from Rashomon

Two scabbards built to fit katanas from the prop department's armory for UW-Madison's University Theatre production of Rashomon (July-Sept 2021). The scabbards are hand carved from pine boards, then painted with a reflective black lacquer. Each scabbard has a sageo cord threaded through its notch to tie the weapon to the actor's waist. The handle of one katana is wrapped with a silver ribbon. Prop fabrication and painting by Lydia Berggruen (Props Master), production photos by Beau Meyer. Materials: pine boards, wood glue, Rust-Oleum black and clear lacquer sprays, silk cord, wired silver ribbon, WD-40

A pair of round midcentury end tables built for UW-Madison's University Theatre production of White Rabbit Red Rabbit  (February 2021). Korean War footlockers from Clybourne Park

Two Korean war footlockers from UW-Madison's University Theatre production of Clybourne Park (November 2019). In Act I, the clean footlocker tumbles down the stairs and is dragged into the backyard where it is buried. In Act II -- 50 years later -- the "same" footlocker is dug up during home renovations. Bowling pin table from Twilight Bowl

A novelty table built for UW-Madison's University Theatre production of Twilight Bowl (April 2019). The tabletop is cut from 3/4" maple, mounted onto steel legs, and wrapped in silver T-molding. Designed by Arianna White (Scenic Designer), built by Lydia Berggruen (Props Master) and Eann Potter (Technical Director), painted by Lydia Berggruen, production photos by Beau Meyer. Materials: 3/4" maple, 3M Bondo crack filler, red and white scenic paint, clear gloss breakthrough sealant, plastic T-molding, silver acrylic paint, steel legs

Milky White from Into the Woods

A plywood version of Milky White built for UW-Madison's University Theatre & University Opera production of Into the Woods (February 2019). The cow rolls around stage on casters and contains a series of retractable cables in its interior compartment to draw in the various items that Milky "eats" during the show.
